1105 Auction


The low estimate is only 100 K€ for lot 5 of the sale of Finarte in Rome on May 29. It is an oil on panel of Andrea Solario, 29x24 cm. (SOLD 124 K€ including fees).

Incredible: Sotheby's did not even yet sell its Peaceful Kingdom by Hicks, that already Christie's announces another one. I checked, it is not the same one!! Christie's expects 4 M$ from it, in New York on September 24. (UNSOLD).


A pastel of Monet representing Waterloo Bridge will be at Kornfeld in Bern on June 5 and 6 (300 KCHF, lot 93). (SOLD 600 KCHF before fees). In the same sale, which takes place at the same time as the fair of Basel: a late still life of Braque (96x121 cm, lot 12) (SOLD 1.8 MCHF before fees) and two landscapes of Hodler (1,25 MCHF each, lots 57 and 58) (UNSOLD, and SOLD 1 MCHF before fees) in an important group of Swiss painting.

On June 11, while following the ad published in the Gazette de l'Hotel Drouot, we will see at Beaussant Lefèvre in Drouot a group of 128 watercolours per Henri Rivière, what to reinvigorate the value of this artist appreciated for his engravings. (SOLD maximum 10.5 M€ before fees).

Laurence Stephen Lowry was in his time a painter of daily reality; for this reason his work is well in current moves and its value can only go up. Here are three important paintings, in the sale of Christie's in London on June 6 (700, (UNSOLD), 700 (UNSOLD) and 600 K£ (SOLD 770 K£ including fees)).

By Kapoor, we see in the sale of Christie's in New York on May 14 a sculpture containing a concave mirror (800 K$). (SOLD 940 K$ including fees).

In the sale of contemporary art of Borobudur Auction in Singapore from May 16 to 18, I recognized a portrait by Feng Zhengjie (150x150 cm, 150 KS$, lot 1083) (SOLD 300 KS$ including fees) and a Mask by Zeng Fanzhi (60x50 cm, 200 KS$, lot 1109). (SOLD 500 KS$ including fees). One will also review paintings by I Nyoman Masriadi (top SOLD 280 KS$ including fees) and Agus Suwage. (top SOLD 220 KS$ including fees).

The highest estimates of the sale of Poly at Beijing on May 28 go to two large oils on canvas of Chen Yifei: lot 417 at 18 M yuan and lot 450, a nude, at 9 M yuan.


The Gazette de l'Hotel Drouot presents this week in one of its pages of publicity a two-body Jiajing vase, 33 cm high, to sell on June 17 in Paris by the very new AuctionArt auction house.


Lot 111 of the sale of Ader at Drouot on May 23 is a long rifle from Algiers dated AH1126 (16 K€). (SOLD 11.5 K€ before fees).


Lot 91 (?) of the sale of Sotheby's New York on May 23 is a Navajo blanket with striated figure (400 K$). (UNSOLD).


Here is still a flat bureau by Dubois. This one, which belonged to the Rothschilds, is presented by Christie's in New York on May 20 (700 K$). At this price, it should be sold without problem. (SOLD 1 M$ including fees).

In the design sale by Phillips de Pury on June 12 in New York will come an important group of lacquered black and white pieces of furniture by Newson, among them a desk (300 K$) (SOLD 310 K$ including fees) and a console (300 K$), (UNSOLD), as well as pieces of furniture by Arad including some around 200 K$, (SOLD a table 240 K$ including fees) and a wall-mounted bookshelves by Perriand (400 K$). We open the chapter of silverware with a tea set out of silver plated metal with wood handles, by Marianne Brandt, at Phillips de Pury in New York on June 12 (250 K$). (UNSOLD).


On May 22 in Dallas, Heritage sells a specimen at almost mint condition of the first issue of Action Comics showing Superman, with a minimum bid of 85 K$ (lot 41001). (SOLD 115 K$ including fees).

By Millon at Drouot on May 31, a drawing by Moebius is estimated 15 K€ (SOLD 56 K€ before fees).


On June 18 at Drouot, Jonquet sells 35 jewels by Suzanne Belperron. (Withdrawn)

On June 19 in Brussels, Pierre Bergé and Associés sells jewels made by artists, of which a silver collar by Louise Bourgeois at 28 K€. (UNSOLD).


A fac simile engraved in 1823 of the Declaration of Independence of the United States is estimated 150 K$, to sell by Swann in New York on June 5. (SOLD 110 K$, probably before fees).
