0607 Preview


In the sale of European sculpture in London at Sotheby's on July 9, I have chosen, although these are not the most expensive lots, the marble bust of a man by the circle of Francesco da Laurana (47 cm, 80 K£, lot 54) (UNSOLD) and a bronze horse by Ferdinando Tacca (19 cm, 60 K£, lot 111). (SOLD 180 K£ including fees).


On July 15 at Sotheby's in London there are a beautiful lady by Tissot (£ 1 million, lot 54) (UNSOLD) and a late Pre-Raphaelite scene by Waterhouse (500 K£, lot 37). (UNSOLD).

I studied it this week, but the sale is today, 6 July: a painting by Soulages, at Versailles Enchères (350 K €). (SOLD 440 K€ before fees).


At Quail Lodge, California, on August 15, Bonhams & Butterfields offer a 1936 Lagonda ($ 1.2 million). (SOLD 1.25 M$ before fees). In the same sale they include a large collection of cars from Avions Voisin brand, including two single models. (top SOLD 600 K$ before fees).


On 28 August in Edinburgh, Bonhams plays with a pig in Wemyss Ware (3 K£). (SOLD 5.8 K£ before fees).


A 13x18 cm oval photograph of Lincoln in 1858, beardless, is estimated 150 K$. It is the lot 610 of the sale organized by Profiles in History in Hollywood, or more exactly in Calabasas Hills, on 31 July and 1 August. (SOLD 180 K$).
Among the many photos of movie actresses that are always found in the sales of this house, my favorite is this time a portrait of Louise Brooks by Otto Dyar (8 K$, 30x35 cm, lot 368). (SOLD 11 K$).

On the occasion of the Olympic Games, China Guardian in Beijing is organizing a sale of art on the theme of sport. It will take place on August 15, and the online catalog is promised for July 15. The first announced work is a portrait of Samaranch by Jin Shangyi. (CANCELLED SALE)
