2007 Preview


On July 26, at Mainichi Auction in Tokyo, lot 242 is an oil on canvas by Fujita estimated 35 million yen. (SOLD 38 M yen before fees).


Lot 40 of the sale of Nice-Enchères on July 29 is a bonheur-du-jour style Louis XVI signed by Sormani. (UNSOLD).


On July 30 in Monte Carlo, Tajan sells no less than 23 mirrors by Vautrin (maximum of low estimates 45 K €). (SOLD 50 K€ including fees).


On 16 and 17 August at Monterey (Pebble Beach), Gooding disperse a collection of twelve Bugattis, including a coupé 57SC Atalante of 1937, (SOLD 7.9 M$ including fees), and a 35B of 1928 whose first owner was Louis Chiron. (SOLD 1.45 M$ including fees).

On October 11 in Paris, Artcurial sells a monoplace aircraft Bleriot XI that retains its original engine. (UNSOLD).


Now that I consider the decoys as works of art, here are two sales:
-- 21 and 22 July at Cape Cod, by Decoys Unlimited (maximum of low estimates 75 K $); (SOLD 200 K$, probably before fees, a willet by Wilson).
-- July 23 in Boston by Copley Fine Art Auctions (maximum of low estimates 100 K $). (SOLD 210 K$ including fees a duck by Crowell).


Tarisio announce a cello of 1717 by Stradivari, in its sale of New York from 21 to 31 October. (UNSOLD)

Steinway sells on eBay the concert grand piano on which Lang Lang has played in Central Park on July 15 in front of 63,000 people. This sale is for the benefit of relief to victims of the Chinese earthquake. Starting bid: 165 K $, closing auction on July 27. (UNSOLD).
